showTimeline
Show a horizontal Gantt-style timeline in the chat — for phases, milestones, or events positioned along a single numeric axis (elapsed time, day number, distance) where DURATION and relative timing matter, not just order. If order is all that matters (a step sequence with no meaningful duration), use showGraph's breadthfirst/dagre layouts instead — this tool is specifically for when 'how long' and 'when relative to the others' carry real information (a recipe's proof/bake timing, a project's phase durations, a multi-day trip itinerary, a historical sequence with real gaps between events). Provide `phases`, each {label, start, end, category?, valueLabel?} — `start`/`end` are on whatever numeric scale you choose for this timeline (minutes elapsed, day number, hour-of-day — pick one consistent scale and pass its name as `unit`); set start equal to end for an instantaneous event, which renders as a thin marker instead of a bar. `category` groups phases into a color-coded legend (e.g. 'prep'/'cook'/'rest', or 'planning'/'build'/'launch') — leave it off phases that don't fit a category, or omit it on every phase for a single uncategorized color throughout. `valueLabel` is an optional short string shown at the right of each phase's row for a secondary metric that isn't part of the timeline axis itself (a temperature, a cost, a headcount) — e.g. a recipe phase might set valueLabel:'400°F'. Pass `unit` (e.g. 'h', 'day', 'min') to label the axis ticks. Keep it to phases that actually have a meaningful start/end — don't invent a duration for something that's genuinely instantaneous just to give it a bar. If a phase needs more detail than a label/duration/valueLabel can hold (a description, a link, sub-steps), pair this with showList in the same turn rather than cramming it in — this tool only ever shows the timing itself. If the timeline describes a real upcoming schedule the user might want reminded about (a project deadline, a milestone date), offer createAlert for the rele…
