Import a STEP or watertight STL file as a fresh unsaved CAD document using the same native checks as File > Import. STEP accepts UTF-8 text and embedded units. STL accepts standard padded base64 with explicit mm/inch units and produces faceted geometry. Preserves the complete original source. Refuses unsaved CAD/CAM work and open workflows. Native parsing, topology and positive-volume validation must succeed before changing the draft.
