Spawn a creature or object on the board. Eleven creature arts plus a chest: goblin, skeleton, dragon, wolf, ooze, spider, wraith, ogre, rat, warden (a carved stone guardian), knight, wizard, villager. NEVER use "knight" or "wizard" for an enemy — those are the player's own heroes, and the board would look like the party is fighting itself. Pick the one that actually fits what you are describing, and vary it — a hall of identical goblins looks like a bug, not an encounter.
