Your website is not an MCP server

ChatGPT site tools are WebMCP on the page you are looking at — not a remote MCP connector. Do not wrap the storefront.

Your website is not an MCP server. ChatGPT’s desktop browser now implements WebMCP as site tools — same live page, same signed-in session. That is not the MCP connectors ChatGPT has had since 2025. Site tools need GPT-5.6 Sol or Terra; they are off on Luna and not in Enterprise/Edu this rollout.

ChatGPT also does not discover declarative HTML-form tools or tools registered in iframes. If your “WebMCP launch” was form attributes only, the ChatGPT address bar will look empty. Register imperative tools on the top-level document.

Why it matters: wrapping a storefront as a remote MCP server puts money and session off the page the human can see. Keep backends on classic MCP. Keep journeys on WebMCP websites (~864 sites, ~5,660 tools in Influzer’s snapshot). Full take: Your website is not an MCP server.
